Family Research Council (FRC) is a $25 million nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC dedicated to articulating and advancing a family-centered philosophy of public life. Its mission is to serve in the kingdom of God by championing faith, family, and freedom in public policy and the culture from a biblical worldview. In addition to providing policy research and analysis for the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of the federal government, FRC seeks to inform the news media, the academic community, business leaders, and the public about family issues that affect the nation from a biblical worldview.
The Vice President of Development & Marketing is responsible to lead FRC’s fundraising plan, strategy and execution alongside FRC’s marketing efforts to help grow their national influence and partner base. This role oversees a dedicated professional fundraising team who focus on all giving levels in a multi-channel fundraising environment. This role also develops and builds an effective marketing program across channels to effectively share FRC’s vision, mission and programs. Strong administrative skills are essential in this role and attention to detail, grounded in relational strengths, while working in a collaborative work environment with other departments.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
The Family Research Council (FRC) was founded in 1983 to counter voices opposing life and family by raising up capable men and women of faith, with Jerry Regier as its first president laying the groundwork for connecting pro-family experts with government institutions. In 1988, FRC merged with Focus on the Family under Gary Bauer, who built a national network of engaged citizens and activists and opened FRC’s home office in Washington, D.C.; the organization became an independent nonprofit in 1992. Kenneth Connor, appointed president in 2000, sharpened FRC’s public policy agenda, emphasizing the sanctity of life, defense of traditional marriage, elder care, religious liberty, parental choice in education, and family tax relief. In 2003, Tony Perkins became FRC’s fourth president, bringing legislative experience and a focus on cultural engagement through the pastorate, establishing a department to equip and empower pastors in support of the family and church.
Today, FRC is a $25 million organization with approximately 100 employees. In addition to its advocacy with elected officials and policymakers, FRC has built a rapidly growing communications arm. In 2022, it launched The Washington Stand (TWS), a media outlet offering news and commentary from a biblical worldview. TWS is complemented by a podcast called Outstanding, which analyzes headlines through the lens of Scripture and explores how Christians should respond.
FRC’s flagship broadcast, Washington Watch with Tony Perkins, is a one-hour television, radio and podcast program. It airs live each weekday on DirecTV, Dish Network and more than 16 streaming apps, reaching over 600 locations through TV/antenna/satellite/cable/streaming platforms, as well as over 800 radio stations across the country. In May 2024, FRC launched the Stand Firm app—a cancel-resistant platform for like-minded individuals to find community, stay grounded in Scripture, and follow the news from trusted sources. These efforts form the foundation of an even broader expansion that is planned into broadcast, video, and digital content.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION’S CULTURE
Family Research Council is a trusted voice for those identified by George Barna as Spiritually Active, Governance Engaged Conservatives (SAGE Cons)—individuals who value human life, strong families, and religious liberty. FRC is known for its well-grounded public policy positions, which are rooted in Scripture, guided by the Holy Spirit, and aimed at shaping a culture aligned with a biblical worldview.
The organization operates in a fast-paced environment, responding to news as it unfolds in real time. As a result, the team is hardworking, responsive, and adaptable—unafraid to engage with the chaos of the world around them. This dynamic closely mirrors the broader culture of Washington, D.C., and, as such, presents some internal communications challenges that FRC is actively working to improve. The organization is blessed with strong relationships in Washington and, depending on the current administration, enjoys significant access to key newsmakers and decision-makers within both the executive branch and on Capitol Hill.
FRC fosters a family-friendly, spiritually grounded workplace culture where everyone is united around a common mission and deeply believes in the importance of their work. It is grounded in the understanding that God is ultimately in control. The team is composed of talented, experienced, and passionate individuals. Leadership is both flexible and supportive, while maintaining high expectations for excellence. Many staff members form lasting friendships beyond the workplace, and the organization boasts a notably low turnover rate—with many employees having served for over a decade.

OPPORTUNITIES & CHALLENGES
FRC is excited about the future as it continues to grow and increase its visibility, standing alongside those who champion faith, family, and freedom in the public square. Given the nature of this work, the ideal candidate must, first and foremost, be called to this ministry and be spiritually prepared to face opposition. Additionally, they must be able to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritize strategically, and pivot quickly when urgent issues arise. This individual should be confident and capable of responding both proactively and reactively, all while remaining humble and discerning.
This role offers the opportunity to leverage strengths as a cross-collaborator and communicator who is spiritually mature, seasoned, innovative, relational, and a natural bridge between teams. With approximately 75% of the role focused on development and 25% on marketing, there is significant opportunity to shape and execute strategy while ensuring alignment across the organization. The ability to both develop and clearly communicate strategy to team members, stakeholders, and key leaders allows this individual to influence outcomes and advance a shared vision. The primary challenge lies in navigating organizational complexity and balancing deep development work with the agility required for marketing initiatives, consistently translating complex strategy into clear, actionable direction that resonates with audiences passionate about faith, family, and freedom in public policy and culture from a biblical worldview.
