The Ridge Community Church (TRCC) is a thriving, relational congregation of 1,100 nestled in the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains of North Georgia. Known for its strong biblical teaching, authentic community, and deep commitment to missions, TRCC is seeking a Local & Global Missions Pastor to lead and expand its outreach and impact both in its own community and around the world.

Joining a team of five full-time pastors and five support staff, this new pastor will champion a culture of evangelism and mission engagement—mobilizing the church to live out the gospel through intentional outreach, compassionate service, and cross-cultural discipleship. This role requires a clear calling, a passion for evangelism, and an ability to inspire and equip others to live on mission. Serving as both visionary and shepherd, this leader will guide the church into deeper, Spirit-led engagement with its community and the nations.

THEIR STORY

Founded in 2010 by Pastor Chan Mitchell, TRCC has rapidly grown to become one of the most influential churches in the region. With a reputation for Bible-centered teaching, genuine community, and global engagement, the church maintains a casual, family-friendly, and highly relational culture. While rooted in a Baptist theological tradition, the overall feel is nondenominational. The church is non-Calvinistic in its approach to salvation and practices believer’s baptism and open communion. TRCC is Complementarian in its view of leadership in the local church.

Sunday mornings feature three contemporary services and a full array of multi-generational programs on their beautiful 17-acre campus. With continued growth, TRCC is preparing for a $5.7M expansion that includes a new 750-seat sanctuary. The church operates on a $1.8M annual budget, with an additional $200K designated for global missions.

TRCC’s mission is simple and lived out daily:“Love God, Love People, Make a Difference.”

This calling is deeply embedded in the leadership culture. The pastoral team serves with a strong sense of calling and shared purpose—viewing ministry not as a job, but a divine calling.

WHAT THEY DO

The vision of the church is to “Connect, equip, and mobilize disciples of Jesus Christ for community transformation and global impact.”

TRCC places a high value on relationships, using small groups and family programming throughout the week to connect people for community and discipleship. The church is significantly invested in global missions, supporting 22 missionaries—most of whom serve as indigenous leaders in difficult contexts among least-reached people groups.  The Missions Council is fervently committed to supporting these missionaries not just with finances, but also with prayer and pastoral care.

TRCC also recruits, trains, and sends at least six (6) short-term mission teams annually and is actively pursuing its vision of becoming a “Sending Church.” Its first homegrown missionary couple is preparing to serve in Bangladesh. TRCC has a robust global missions program with a strategic focus on Ethiopia, South Sudan, Somalia, India, PNG, and a large East Asian country with restricted access. Mission awareness is nurtured through monthly Missions Moments, annual Mission Conferences, and their Perspectives Course.

The church engages with its surrounding community by financially supporting local ministry partners, hosting an annual Serve-Week, and offering frequent opportunities for its members to participate in community projects. The pastors and elders would like to see the church become more involved in the local community, specifically engaging the RidgeMen, students, and young adult ministry. It’s anticipated that the new Local and Global Mission Pastor will play the key role in advancing the church’s local engagement.

POSITION PROFILE

The Local & Global Missions Pastor will provide leadership, strategy, and oversight for all outreach efforts—allocating approximately 70% of focus to global missions and 30% to local engagement. This role reports to the Executive Pastor and works closely with the Missions Council.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Cast vision and develop strategies for local and global outreach

  • Lead and unify all outreach-related ministries

  • Strengthen and evaluate ministry partnerships

  • Oversee and develop short-term mission experiences

  • Provide pastoral care and support for missionaries

  • Cultivate a culture of prayer for global needs and people groups

  • Mobilize the congregation to give, go, and pray

  • Recruit, train, and lead the Missions Council

  • Plan initiatives that increase missions awareness and engagement

  • Steward the missions budget with wisdom and accountability

  • Contribute as a key member of the pastoral leadership team

TRCC is looking for a humble, caring, and collaborative leader with a strong prayer life and an evangelistic heart. Cross-cultural ministry experience on the mission field (preferably among the least reached) is considered a vital qualification, as is a bachelor’s degree in a field related to Bible, missions, or theology.

The salary range is $65-75,000. Benefits include a $7,500/year stipend for health insurance, a 3% match for retirement, and two (2) weeks of vacation plus ten (10) additional paid days off. The church has budgeted $9-12,000 per year to cover the costs of 3-4 mission trips.

OPPORTUNITIES & CHALLENGES

Opportunities

  • Join a humble, collaborative, and deeply caring leadership team

  • Build on an already strong foundation from the current missions leader to expand global and local impact

  • Lead the church into its vision of becoming a true Sending Church

  • Innovate new pathways for engagement, mobilization, and partnership

Challenges

  • Following a beloved and highly effective volunteer Mission Pastor will require honoring the past while sensitively introducing change

  • While the Missions Council is focused on global, the staff has largely been responsible for local outreach. Balancing priorities from both sides of the mission portfolio will require good listening skills and a collaborative posture.

  • The cost of housing in the immediate Blue Ridge community is elevated. For this reason, most of the staff live at a distance from the church and commute for up to 30 minutes. The drive is beautiful and provides space to decompress and reset.

THE BLUE RIDGE COMMUNITY

The Blue Ridge region of North Georgia offers a unique blend of natural beauty and growing opportunity. Surrounded by the Chattahoochee National Forest, the area is rich with outdoor recreation—hiking, fishing, and rafting—alongside charming mountain towns and a thriving arts and dining scene. Located just two hours north of Atlanta, Blue Ridge is experiencing steady growth, attracting both tourists and new residents—creating extensive opportunities for meaningful outreach into the community.

Housing in the immediate area has surged in price over the last few years as Floridians and Atlantans have relocated in increasing numbers, driving up the median cost of a 3-bedroom home to around $500,000. More affordable housing is available within reasonable commuting distance, and many staff take advantage of this.
