Family Research Council (FRC) is a nonprofit organization based in Washington, DC dedicated to articulating and advancing a family-centered philosophy of public life. Its mission is to serve in the kingdom of God by championing faith, family, and freedom in public policy and the culture from a biblical worldview. In addition to providing policy research and analysis for the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of the federal government, FRC seeks to inform the news media, the academic community, business leaders, and the public about family issues that affect the nation from a biblical worldview.
The Executive Producer is the strategic and editorial lead for the organization’s Washington D.C. based daily live radio/TV broadcast, Washington Watch, which delivers cultural and political commentary on topics of the day and explores these issues through a Biblical lens. This role oversees the Senior Producer and production team during the program, shaping the editorial voice of the program, setting daily content priorities, managing high-profile guests, and ensuring operational excellence.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Family Research Council (FRC) was founded in 1983 with the immediate goal of countering the credentialed voices opposing life and family by raising up equally capable men and women of faith. Jerry Regier served as FRC’s first president. His foundational work laid the groundwork for the organization's long-term success, as he developed innovative ways to connect pro-family experts with government research and policy-making institutions.
In 1988, FRC merged with Focus on the Family, and Gary Bauer assumed leadership. Bauer focused on building a national network of concerned citizens and informed activists eager to engage in the key national issues affecting faith, family, and freedom. During his tenure, FRC opened its home office in the heart of a revitalized Washington, D.C. The organization became an independent nonprofit in 1992.
In 2000, the FRC Board of Directors appointed Kenneth Connor as the organization’s third president. Connor worked to sharpen FRC’s public policy agenda, placing special emphasis on the sanctity of human life, defense of marriage between a man and a woman, humane elder care, religious liberty, parental choice in education, and family tax relief.
In 2003, Tony Perkins became FRC’s fourth and current president. Prior to joining FRC, he served for eight years in the Louisiana legislature, where he championed initiatives such as the nation's first covenant marriage law. Tony brought with him the strong conviction that efforts to protect the family and the church must be rooted in a renewed cultural engagement by the pastorate. To support this vision, he established a department dedicated to reaching, equipping, and emboldening pastors.
Today, FRC is a $25 million organization with approximately 100 employees. In addition to its advocacy with elected officials and policymakers, FRC has built a rapidly growing communications arm. In 2022, it launched The Washington Stand (TWS), a media outlet offering news and commentary from a biblical worldview. TWS is complemented by a podcast called Outstanding, which analyzes headlines through the lens of Scripture and explores how Christians should respond.
FRC’s flagship broadcast, Washington Watch with Tony Perkins, is a one-hour television, radio and podcast program , which airs live each weekday on more than 800 radio stations across the country and on DirecTV and Dish networks. In May 2024, FRC launched the Stand Firm app—a cancel-resistant platform for like-minded individuals to find community, stay grounded in Scripture, and follow the news from trusted sources. These efforts form the foundation of an even broader expansion into broadcast, video, and digital content planned.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION’S CULTURE
Family Research Council (FRC) is a trusted voice for those identified by George Barna as Spiritually Active, Governance Engaged Conservatives (SAGE Cons)—individuals who value human life, strong families, and religious liberty. FRC is known for its well-grounded public policy positions, which are rooted in Scripture, guided by the Holy Spirit, and aimed at shaping a culture aligned with a biblical worldview.
The organization operates in a fast-paced environment, responding to news as it unfolds in real time. As a result, the team is hardworking, responsive, and adaptable—unafraid to engage with the chaos of the world around them. This dynamic closely mirrors the broader culture of Washington, D.C., and, as such, presents some internal communications challenges that FRC is actively working to improve. The organization is blessed with strong relationships in Washington and, depending on the current administration, enjoys significant access to key newsmakers and decision-makers within both the executive branch and on Capitol Hill.
FRC fosters a family-friendly, spiritually grounded workplace culture where everyone is united around a common mission and deeply believes in the importance of their work. It is grounded in the understanding that God is ultimately in control. The team is composed of talented, experienced, and passionate individuals. Leadership is both flexible and supportive, while maintaining high expectations for excellence. Many staff members form lasting friendships beyond the workplace, and the organization boasts a notably low turnover rate—with many employees having served for over a decade.

OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES
The Family Research Council is excited about the future as it continues to grow and increase its visibility, standing alongside those who champion faith, family, and freedom in the public square. Given the nature of this work, the ideal candidate must, first and foremost, feel called to this ministry and be spiritually prepared to face opposition. Additionally, they must be able to navigate a fast-paced environment, balance strategic priorities, and pivot quickly when urgent issues arise. This individual should be confident and capable of responding both proactively and reactively, all while remaining humble and discerning.
The Executive Producer must have strong production experience—particularly in the control room. They should possess a builder’s mindset, be newsroom-savvy, bring deep production expertise, and demonstrate executive-level leadership. This role requires both careful planning and the ability to adapt quickly as news develops. The candidate must be decisive, even when events are unfolding in real time. Thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment is essential, as is having an understanding of how Capitol Hill and the federal government operates.
