Pregnancy Care Center (PCC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit, pro-life Christ-centered ministry committed to saving lives physically, spiritually, and emotionally, one life at a time. PCC ministry is rooted in the compassion and love of Jesus Christ. They are passionate about sharing the love of Jesus Christ and providing ongoing support to new families from the moment a new life is confirmed through pregnancy, childbirth, and until a baby is one year old. This ministry is about sharing the gospel and empowering people to make positive, life-affirming choices.

The Executive Director is responsible for the successful execution of the PCC's mission, strategic initiatives, and growth objectives. This includes oversight of development, fundraising, relationships with donors, and center operations. As a non-voting member of the Board, the Executive Director will play an essential role in helping to set the vision for the organization, which is determined by the Board. The Executive Director will lead a team of dedicated staff members and volunteers. This person needs to be an engaged disciple with interpersonal, collaborative, and administrative acumen as well as the ability to actualize God's plan for the ministry.

HISTORY OF THE ORGANIZATION

The history of the PCC began - during the time when many Christians were involved in Operation Rescue, which resulted in picketing at abortion clinics. A group of priests and pastors joined together to pray and seek how to engage women with an alternative to abortion and sought to find a better way to help women who were in crisis. The goal was to support women rather than condemning their actions. Through answered prayer, in 1985, the first Pregnancy Care Center opened in Haverhill.

Today, the PCC has three locations:

  • Haverhill:

107 Merrimack Street, a busy downtown location. The PCC has supported the Haverhill community since its inception, this is their 3rd location since 1985.

  • Lawrence:

124 Ames Street opened 14 years ago and is the busiest of the 3 locations.

  • Lowell:

151 Warren Street serves as the headquarters for the ministry. The PCC has been in Lowell for 6 years, but the Warren Street location opened in January 2024.

As a client-centered ministry, every role performed within our centers is an act of expressing our ministry as the Body of Christ.

The Pregnancy Care Center has helped over 4,500 women in the past 10 years and has provided the following  free and confidential services:

  • Unplanned Pregnancy Program

  • Self-Administered Pregnancy Tests

  • Options Education

  • Referral for Onsite Ultrasound

  • Clothing, Food, and Furnishings (for mother and baby)

  • Healthy Mother/Healthy Baby Education

  • Infant Care & Parenting Education

  • Community Referrals: Adoption, Housing, Legal, Medical, Social Services

  • Sexual Integrity & Healthy Relationship Education

  • Post-Abortion Mentoring Education

WHAT THEY DO

Pregnancy Testing

The PCC offers free, self-administered pregnancy tests to determine if a woman is pregnant.

Onsite Ultrasound Referrals

A pregnancy test is only an indication of a possible pregnancy. Next, an ultrasound is needed to verify if the pregnancy is viable (growing). The PCC has ultrasound services in each office location. The ultrasound program is run by an independent medical office.

After Abortion Support

Negative mental health effects after an abortion are not uncommon. Abortion is a serious medical procedure with risks, both physically and emotionally. The PCC offers post-abortion support for both men and women through an 8-week bible study program. This program is run by post-abortive volunteers both in person and virtually and is offered in English and Spanish.

Mentoring

Clients meet with their advocates every month for mentoring and support. They are reminded they’re in a safe, non-judgmental environment. When a woman senses her safety and knows she’s being heard, in her own time she will begin to engage and connect with her advocate. This relationship is the essence of our support for a new Mom. Her advocate walks with her on this journey until the baby is a year old and sometimes longer.

Education

To prepare a new Mom for parenting, clients are offered educational lessons on breastfeeding, taking care of a newborn, and many other topics during and after their pregnancy.

OPPORTUNITIES & CHALLENGES
