They are seeking highly relational and strategic Directors of Development to join its growing Advancement Team, with a focus on major gifts. Four regional Directors will be hired, and one will be selected as the Senior Director of Development to provide leadership to the expanding major gift team. These field-based roles will build transformational partnerships with high-capacity donors—individuals, family offices, and Kingdom investors—grounded in trust, discipleship, and generosity. These individuals will manage a portfolio of Ministry Partners – MnP’s, helping them invest meaningfully in PreBorn!’s mission to save lives and share the hope of Christ.

Founded in 2007 by Dan and Valerie Steiner, PreBorn! exists to glorify Jesus by saving babies and souls. Over the past five years, the organization has grown rapidly, expanding from $10 million to $62.5 million in annual revenue, and from 15 to 75 employees. PreBorn! provides holistic care for women facing crisis pregnancies through strategic digital marketing, free ultrasounds, support services, and grants to pregnancy clinics for state-of-the-art ultrasound machines and evangelism training.

THE OPPORTUNITY

PreBorn! is in a season of unprecedented growth, expanding its reach and impact as it partners with life-affirming pregnancy clinics across the country. To support this mission, PreBorn! is hiring three Directors of Development and one Senior Director of Development to join its growing advancement team. This is a unique opportunity for individuals who are passionate about saving the lives of babies and advancing the gospel. Positions are available in key regions including Atlanta, Arizona, California, Washington D.C., Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and Virginia.


Each Director of Development will be responsible for stewarding an established portfolio of major donors, cultivating authentic relationships, and inviting generous financial partnership with the ministry. These frontline fundraisers will represent PreBorn! with conviction and clarity, aligning donor passions with the mission of ending abortion and proclaiming the hope of Christ.


The Senior Director of Development will not only manage their own portfolio of donors but will also provide leadership and strategic oversight to a regional team of Development Directors. This role is ideal for a seasoned fundraising leader who thrives in mentoring others, setting vision, and driving results within a collaborative and Christ-centered environment.

Purpose of PreBorn!

PreBorn! is a Christ-centered, non-profit, pro-life organization that supports life-affirming Pregnancy Clinics in their mission to reach women considering abortion, particularly in areas with high abortion rates.

 

This is achieved through a national nursing center supported by digital marketing strategies designed to connect with abortion-minded women, offering them free ultrasounds and support, as well as providing Pregnancy Clinics with vital grants for state-of-the-art ultrasound machines, evangelism training, and additional resources. All services provided to expectant mothers within the PreBorn! Pregnancy Network are offered at no cost, emphasizing our commitment to life.

Dan Steiner is the founder, president, and chair of PreBorn!, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting life-affirming pregnancy clinics across the United States. Under his leadership, PreBorn! has become one of the most impactful pro-life ministries globally, facilitating over 77,000 commitments to Christ and saving more than 200,000 babies through its network of clinics and outreach efforts.


Steiner's approach combines practical support with spiritual guidance, providing free ultrasounds, counseling, and evangelism training to pregnancy clinics, particularly in areas with high abortion rates. In 2023 alone, PreBorn! placed 83 ultrasound machines, trained over 2,000 individuals in evangelism, and saved more than 59,000 babies.


A passionate advocate for the Gospel, Steiner has appeared alongside prominent figures such as Glenn Beck, Ben Shapiro, Charlie Kirk, Candace Owens, and Tucker Carlson to promote the pro-life message. He is also the author of Hearing Jesus Say Well Done, a book that explores biblical principles for living a life pleasing to God. Steiner resides in Indianapolis, Indiana, with his wife, Valerie. They have five children and nine grandchildren.

Challenges

Rapid Growth and Evolving Infrastructure: PreBorn!’s explosive growth brings natural growing pains. The organization is actively investing in operational infrastructure and team development to support long-term sustainability, but Directors must be comfortable navigating a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

 

Donor Engagement Gaps: While the donor file is strong, many supporters have not received consistent, personalized engagement. Some relationships will require reactivation or re-introduction, especially for recent major donors whose first gift was their largest to date.

 

Relationship Building from a Strong Starting Point: Many major donors are newer to the organization and have not yet built long-term relationships with staff. Directors will play a pivotal role in deepening these connections, helping donors understand the eternal impact of their giving and guiding them toward greater involvement over time.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Sr. Dir. Of Development will report to the CDO

DOD will report to the Senior Director of Development


JOB SUMMARY

As the Director of Development or Senior Director of Development, you will serve as a strategic bridge between PreBorn! and a community of high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and Kingdom-minded investors (Ministry Partners – MnP’s). This role calls for a relational leader with expertise in philanthropic strategy and high-capacity donor engagement.


Your primary responsibility is to cultivate and steward deep, trust-based relationships with MnP’s, guiding them to make transformational gifts that align with their faith and PreBorn!’s mission. You’ll serve as both an advisor and advocate, helping MnP’s maximize their giving for eternal Kingdom impact.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in major gift fundraising, family office leadership, donor development, or private wealth management, who feels called to use their skills to advance God’s Kingdom.


*The Senior Director of Development will not only manage their own portfolio of donors but will also provide leadership and strategic oversight to a regional team of Development Directors. Experience mentoring and/or managing a team of fundraisers, with a demonstrated ability to lead through influence and collaboration is essential for the role.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Strategic MnP Stewardship & Relationship Management

  • Cultivate and steward deep, trust-based relationships with high-capacity donors, family offices, and philanthropic leaders who align with PreBorn!’s mission.

  • Serve as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of MnP’s, ensuring their vision and values are reflected in their partnership with PreBorn!.

  • Regularly engage donors through personal communication, visits, exclusive briefings, and impact updates to strengthen long-term commitment.

  • Guide MnP’s in strategic philanthropic planning, ensuring their gifts are maximized for eternal impact.


2. Philanthropic Strategy & Complex Giving Solutions

  • Partner with donors, their advisors, and financial counselors from organizations such as NCF, Impact Foundation, TrustBridge, Waterstone, and Blue Trust as appropriate to develop and execute comprehensive giving strategies.

  • Educate and equip donors with resources, insights, and creative giving vehicles to maximize their philanthropic and investment impact.

  • Leverage experience with non-cash gifts, donor-advised funds (DAFs), trusts, and alternative Kingdom investment models to guide MnP’s in their giving.


3. Network Expansion & Engagement

  • Actively expand PreBorn!’s influence within high-net-worth circles, family office networks, and faith-driven investors.

  • Proactively engage prospective donors, introducing them to PreBorn!’s Kingdom-building mission.

  • Serve as a trusted connector, engaging MnP’s in peer discussions, private gatherings, and strategic events to deepen their commitment to Kingdom generosity.


4. Impact Communication & MnP Reporting

  • Develop and implement personalized MnP communication strategies ensuring MnP’s receive consistent updates, personalized impact reports, and celebratory wins.

  • Collaborate with Marketing and Creative Teams to develop MnP-centric materials, ensuring messaging resonates with MnP’s and inspires further generosity.

  • Provide clear, measurable reports on donor engagement, financial commitments, and projected revenue growth to Advancement leadership.


QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • Proven track record in major gift fundraising, donor development, private wealth management, or family office leadership with high-capacity donors.

  • Deep understanding of complex philanthropic strategies, including non-cash gifts, donor-advised funds, and impact investments.

  • Relational excellence, able to engage, inspire, and disciple donors through meaningful, values-driven conversations.

  • Strategic thinker with a systems-oriented mindset, capable of building and executing scalable donor engagement processes.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to craft compelling donor messages and reports.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset, comfortable working in fast-paced and rapidly growing ministry environment.

  • Alignment with PreBorn!’s mission, with a passion for advancing life-saving ministry through generosity.


Preferred:

  • Experience working with NCF, Impact Foundation, Waterstone, TrustBridge, or similar organizations.

  • Familiarity with CRM systems (Virtuous preferred) for tracking donor engagement and reporting.

  • Understanding of private equity, real estate gifts, or business-as-mission investment models for Kingdom impact.

  • Experience managing portfolio of $25k+ ministry partners and prospects.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • Salary:

    • Compensation for this position is commensurate with experience. Potential merit-based bonuses, performance-based salary increases (based on annual appraisals), and cost of living adjustments may also be available, depending on organizational policies and performance.

  • Benefits Package: PreBorn! offers participation in a 401(k) retirement plan after one year of employment, with a five-year vesting schedule. The organization currently provides a dollar-for-dollar match up to the maximum amount allowed by the IRS. This match has remained at this level for over four years. While the match amount is subject to periodic review and adjustment by the Board, it reflects PreBorn!’s ongoing commitment to supporting the long-term financial well-being of its team members.

  • Option to enroll in company health benefits package upon completion of 90 day introductory period.

  • PTO: Two weeks of paid vacation time after the first year of employment

    Five days of sick leave effective upon hire.

    2 paid personal days per year in addition to vacation and sick leave.

  • Relocation: No

  • Travel: Up to 40% domestically.

PreBorn! is headquartered in Indianapolis, Indiana, but Director of Development positions are available in key regions across the country, including Atlanta, Arizona, California, Washington, D.C., Illinois, Indiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and Virginia.
