The Organization

Eastside Church is a friendly, neighborhood church on the east side of Williamsburg, Virginia, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. Planted four years ago, this joyful, welcoming, prayer-filled body of just over 140 regular attenders desire to reach their underserved neighborhood through prayer and small groups with the gospel. Eastside’s nondenominational community is self-supporting with an annual budget of $350,000, and substantial reserves. From the beginning, the church established the priority of prayer, Bible study, and outreach, and though some traction was lost during the pandemic, the focus continues today on outreach, fellowship and weekly gatherings of corporate worship in their leased 9,400 sq. foot facility. As they seek their new shepherd, they desire to continue to grow the congregation, increase their impact in the local community, build a robust discipleship ministry, and develop a diverse congregational family.

The Opportunity

Eastside Church seeks a Lead Pastor who will be a builder, someone who demonstrates a proven entrepreneurial track record of growing a congregation and developing ministries which target the immediate local community. The Lead Pastor will be responsible for shepherding the congregation, guiding ministries, teaching, conducting pastoral care and vision-casting. They should be an inspired and engaging teacher of the Word, capable of delivering messages with practical life-application. An ideal candidate will have a collaborative leadership style which seeks to equip, inspire and empower the staff and laity for the ministry, both at Eastside and in the local community. They will serve as a member of the governing body, the Leadership Team (LT) and manage the staff. Currently there are four part time staff members, all serving with passion according to their giftings.
