Falls Church, Virginia

OVERVIEW

The Falls Church Anglican (TFCA) is a vibrant evangelical Anglican congregation with a history that dates to the 1700s, when George Washington served on the church’s vestry. Now, with an all-new campus located on a main artery into Washington DC, TFCA is highly visible to tens of thousands of travelers every day.

On a typical Sunday, one encounters a growing church community with more than 1250 people attending either a traditional service with hymns, choir, and vestments or a contemporary service that blends the beauty and depth of tradition with the joy of modern worship. Both services feature strong biblical preaching and Spirit-filled worship.

Today, God is writing an exciting new chapter in the life of this historic church, and several distinctives are coming into view. Their people hunger for the presence and glory of God in their midst, exalt the name of Jesus Christ, and are firmly rooted in the Holy Scriptures. TFCA is a church that longs to see God’s Kingdom come in their lives, community, and world. With fifty-one employees and hundreds of volunteers, the church reflects with eager anticipation on the words of St. Paul, “No eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of  man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9)

The Opportunity

TFCA seeks the person who is called and gifted to serve as its next Director of Youth Ministry (DYM), providing pastoral leadership and program management for its entire Youth Ministry. Rector Sam Ferguson says, “This is our #1 priority as a church in this season. We have to get this right.”

Reporting to the Executive Director but working closely with the Rector and the church’s core leadership team, this person will disciple, equip, and develop youth ministry staff and adult volunteers and interns as well as students. The DYM will oversee the creation and implementation of plans to faithfully, creatively, and consistently introduce middle and high school teens to Jesus Christ, help them grow in their faith, and guide them to find their place within the church community. With the leadership community, the DYM will equip families to do discipleship in the home.
