Pulse is a prayer and evangelism movement on mission to make Jesus known. The ministry aims to bring the hope of Jesus to the next generation—whether it’s through live events or livestreams, local revival gatherings, raising up leaders, or creating digital resources—believing that this generation needs Jesus and that we, as believers, cannot afford to be silent.

The Marketing Director is a new role that will lead the marketing team and deliver on the organization’s marketing and branding strategy and execution.


In his junior year of college at North Dakota State, Nick Hall wrote a paper about how to reach his generation with the Gospel. The paper went viral and exploded into a student-led movement that reached 8,000 students on his campus—and spread quickly to other campuses. At the pinnacle of Nick’s efforts at NDSU, he spoke to a crowd of 5,000 of his peers at Bison Sports Arena in Fargo. A thousand students made a commitment to Jesus that night. Within two years, more than 50,000 heard the Gospel. People prayed, God moved, and Pulse began, formally incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the state of North Dakota in August 2006.

Now in his late 30s, Nick Hall is a leading international voice in the cause of evangelism and is the primary evangelist and visionary for Pulse. Since the organization was founded sixteen years ago, the Gospel has been shared with more than 320 million people around the world, and nearly 2 million have responded to Jesus through their initiatives.

Today’s youth are the most biblically illiterate and unchurched generation in history. This generation struggles with depression, self-harm, and addiction at unprecedented rates. Suicide is the third leading cause of death for youth ages 10 to 24. The media they consume every day is saturated with sexual objectification, violence and greed. There is a collective longing for healing, hope and purpose—and despite the struggles, there is also a tremendous hope for their stories, because Jesus changes everything.

The call to share Jesus isn’t only for those called to be vocational evangelists … it is a call the Bible makes to everybeliever. Jesus said to His followers, “Go into all the world and preach the Gospel to all creation.” And yet, amid the most unchurched generation in history, the followers of Jesus have perhaps never shared the Gospel less than they do now. The Church can no longer afford to be silent about the hope we have in Jesus.

Pulse exists to share the message of Jesus and to mobilize more of His followers to do the same. Their desire is to bring a fresh expression of Jesus to this generation with a voice and media that resonate with youth culture. They’re not interested in making the Pulse name known; but rather, their heart is to have the name of Jesus be known. Since the organization’s founding, they have linked arms with hundreds of ministries, churches, artists and speakers around the world to fuel evangelistic movements. Whether hosting a big outreach event or providing the evangelistic voice at another organization’s event, whether training evangelists on American college campuses or overseas in Africa, the common goal of everything the organization does is to make Jesus known.


Pulse is reaching this generation. Through live events and digital media, we are seeing more people encounter the message of Jesus than ever before. Some of their current initiatives include:


Pulse wants to see a generation passionate about sharing their faith with the people that God has placed in their lives, which was the origin of the Make Jesus Known Training. The training is a 4-week series on evangelism that will push students and young adults out of their comfort zones and challenge them to make evangelism a lifestyle. The curriculum is geared toward students, university groups, and young adults with a focus on how to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with those in their spheres of influence. It talks about how their personal relationship with Jesus, their lifestyle, and their conversations all play a role in sharing their faith. This free, hands-on training includes four videos led by Evangelist Nick Hall and a leader guide that contains a teaching script, small group questions, presentation slides, and social media content.


Its vision is a generation coming back to Jesus. On June 24-25, Pulse is calling an entire generation to gather at the Cotton Bowl to meet with Jesus and be equipped to share Him with the world. The Cotton Bowl is more than a venue. They believe it’s an altar where a new Jesus movement will be unleashed. History was made here before, because in 1972, Billy Graham and Bill Bright rallied a generation for the largest evangelistic training in American history, called Explo ’72. Pulse believes that lives are going to be transformed again.


Launched by Nick Hall, the aim of Pulse 100 is to find one hundred young men and women each year who are on fire for God, long to preach the Gospel, and are desperate to see the lost know Jesus. Nick’s life was changed when he was mentored and discipled by leaders including Billy Graham, Luis Palau, Josh McDowell and their teams. The desire is to connect a new wave of evangelists with the best training available and exclusive access to experienced leaders to unleash a new generation to reach the world, equipping a new wave of preachers, evangelists and social media influencers.


Move Closer is a mobile app that meets the need for a simple, invitation-based discipleship process for this generation. It combines community, teaching, and a simple interface to empower everyday people to disciple everyday people using content from some of Pulse’s favorite artists and speakers.


The Pulse Internship exists to train emerging leaders to live a lifestyle of multiplication, and commission them to reach the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Whether it’s through live events or livestreams, local revival gatherings, raising up leaders or creating digital resources, Pulse takes its commitment to interns seriously. Each semester and summer is crafted to intentionally pour into each cohort of interns to help them spiritually thrive. Training includes evangelism, discipleship and leadership training with the goal of these interns leaving practically trained, closer to God and more on fire for Jesus.


Pulse is led by an eight-member Board of Directors and founder Nick Hall. In addition to Nick, Vice President of Finance & Operations, Wes Oren, Vice President of Global Ministries Ebony Small, and Vice President of Donor Ministries Karen Berg-Johnson make up the Executive Team. There are currently 65 staff, and the organization’s budget for FY22 is just over $14 million.

In 2019, Pulse moved into a new office space in the heart of downtown Minneapolis, a city that boasts a metro population of 3.5 million, 16th largest in the USA. Pulse’s heart for this space is that it would become a training ground for pastors and young leaders around the world. Just as Minneapolis served for many years as the headquarters for Billy Graham, so they hope once again to make the Twin Cities a global center for evangelism. There are also offices located in Texas, New York, North Carolina and Eastern Europe.

Despite the “Twin” moniker of the Twin Cities, each city is an independent municipality with defined borders. Minneapolis is somewhat younger with modern skyscrapers, while St. Paul has been likened to an East Coast city, with quaint neighborhoods and a vast collection of well-preserved late-Victorian architecture. Minneapolis was influenced by its early Scandinavian and Lutheran roots, while St. Paul’s heritage is French, Irish and German Catholic.

There are numerous lakes in the region, as well as extensive park systems and bicycle trails. Minneapolis-St. Paul is home to the Vikings, Twins, Timberwolves and Wild in addition to hosting the national headquarters of companies like United Health Group, Target, Best Buy, 3M, General Mills, Land O'Lakes, and Thrivent Financial. According to the Minneapolis Area Association of Realtors, the median sales price in the Metro area is currently $340,000, but home prices vary widely depending on the area.

The new Marketing Director will oversee, coordinate, deliver on marketing efforts for Pulse. As the person responsible for developing strategies that lead to strategic growth, he or she will supervise the Communications Director and all public affairs activities to deliver work—both internally and externally with contracted agencies—that leads to meeting marketing goals and deadlines for the organization’s events and campaigns. Working collaboratively with the Creative Director, the ideal candidate will have extensive marketing experience and a comprehensive knowledge of branding. This position should be filled by someone with an understanding of what makes people tick and want to deliver solutions that make a difference. They may currently serve as a Marketing Manager or Director in an agency or at a trendsetting mega-church or nonprofit.

Terms like collaborative, communicator, emotionally intelligent, strategic thinker, analytical and relational describe this person …someone who understands branding and stays on top of where things are going in terms of communication, trends and styles. He or she must be able to create an inspired strategy that will garner attention from Pulse’s target audiences (whether next gen or donors) for their key ministry activities.

In order to be successful, the person in this role needs to have a heart and passion for the power of the Gospel and for the next generation. They cannot be intimated by big “God-sized” vision and goals. They need to be able to thrive in a young, fast-paced environment, be willing to “figure it out” and believe that God can do anything. Above all, they must love Jesus. This is an exciting opportunity to be a major contributor to a fast-growing ministry that is dedicated to helping bring a generation to Christ.

  • Strategic Thinking

  • Degree in marketing, advertising, communications, or related field with 5+ years’ experience.

  • Successful track record in senior marketing roles and creating marketing campaigns.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.

  • Experience with digital and print marketing, content marketing, and social media marketing.

  • Proven ability to plan and manage budgets.

  • Organizational and planning skills sufficient to strategize, communicate, implement and manage marketing efforts that meet the goals of the organization.

  • Ability to track progress of a plan and meet deadlines.

  • Work independently with little supervision and in a team environment.


  • Lead marketing strategy in partnership with executive leadership, strategic initiative leaders, event directors and the creative and communication directors, setting clear goals and holding the team accountable to their achievement.

  • Drive growth and build brand awareness, specifically, for Nick Hall and all Pulse events and initiatives that position Nick Hall as a key evangelistic voice for the next generation.

  • Collaborate with the Communications and Creative teams to uncover insights and strategies to develop and implement marketing and branding tactics for existing and new events and campaigns.

  • Oversee and grow the marketing team, consistently identifying development opportunities within our established audience base and managing consistent growth by securing new followers.

  • Identify short-term and long-term scheduling, budget and resource needs including the development and management of an annual marketing budget.

  • Understand key marketing performance metrics and tracking tools to provide market research, forecasts, analysis, campaign results and trends in order to translate results into actionable insights for the Marketing and Creative Departments.

  • Build weekly social media strategies that drive excellent and growth-producing content from the creative and communications teams.

  • Monitor current marketing trends.

  • Research analytics, build reports and communicate findings clearly in team meetings to inform future strategies, planning and decision making to ensure goals are being met.

  • Work alongside the Creative and Communications Directors to hold the entire department to brand standards.

  • Lead team by example and assign work within the team considering workloads, existing skills, and developing skills.


  • A follower of Jesus, in agreement with Pulse’s Mission, Statement of Faith and Core Values.

  • A model of Christian integrity, diligence in work and persistence in pursuing and exceeding objectives.

  • Professional demeanor and approach and behavior consistent with the standards contained in Pulse manuals (i.e. Employee Manual, Financial Management Policy, etc.).

  • Follow all policies and procedures outlined in the Pulse Employee Manual.

  • Salary: $90–100,000 annually, depending on experience.

  • Benefits: Medical (also covering spouse and dependents), and 403(b) match (50% up to 6%). Pulse also offers vision, dental, STD, LTD, life and AD&D insurance.

  • Vacation: Ten (10) days or more, depending on years of experience; paid holidays.

  • Hybrid Work Schedule: Allows some virtual days, as approved by management.
